I bought a used 1973 Chrysler Bass Runner, the Outboard Motor parts catalog lists the motor as Wards Sea King 55hp Model VWB-27456. On the motor is a tag claiming the motor to be Chrylser 559 HF. From what I gather they are they same. But, the fuel pump on the motor is clearly different than the parts catalog schematic for the fuel pump. Nothing on the motor indicates Ward's or any other.
Leaves me wondering how many other differences there might be.
I've looked all over and cannot find a "parts catalog" for chrysler 55 hp motor, model number 559 HF. Anybody that could point me to right manual / parts catalog of parts would be appreciated.

I was hoping someone could direct me to find an OEM repair manual for either of these motors.
Neither Franz or Laing's seem to have.
Is Clymers the best I can do?

Have you looked on eBay? They come and go so check often. I misread and thought that you were looking for a fuel pump. Others will join in so check your post again.

Page one is the parts catalog front page. It is showing model VWB-27456.
pg 17 show the fuel line and system showing a fuel pump that does not look the same as the one in the attached pic,
the other photo is the ID on the engine.

The pumps looks similar but has subtle differences.

At any rate, I got a carb kit for the appropriate Tillotson carb, pump kit for the one in the pic and Franz did have a shop manual for the 559HF, so I got that too.

Still leaves me wondering how many other differences I will find as my parts catalog doesn't completely match my motor.
Guess I'll learn as I go.

That pump body is what they used from the 70's to 94.
The insides are where the difference is.
One style used a spring inside where the diaphragm is.
The other doesn't????
The float bowl was discontinued, cheaper to make it without.

You can probably use either just make sure the hoses are hooked up right.
