Re: War Eagle 2072 Review

Thanks for the complements. I've really enjoyed it a lot. Just recently found out that I have a defective trim piston hydraulic issue which is under warranty. Having it fixed this week. Wasn't allowing me to get full trim for optimal planing. So, I just might be able to get more than 50 out of this thing like a friend of mine can. (we have identical boats bought from the same dealership). He consistently can go 50-52. I'm 43-46. So we started having a conversation about the tilt etc and figured out I might have a problem. Anyway, took it to the dealer and described what was going on and they trim it all the way up and saw that it dropped a little after full tilt was obtained. Closer inspection revealed some oil leaking from the trim piston so it didn't have enough power to tilt the motor up against the force of the water rushing by at higher speeds. He said this would fix the problem and give me some more speed. So, I hope he's right.
Good fishing wicked 251.

Re: War Eagle 2072 Review

Hey Monte,
Thanks for the advice. That is kind of what I was thinking...that it would be underpowered with the 60, but that is what the rating is due to the configuration for the tiller. I talked to the folks at war eagle and they said if I would install a console and take some pics of it they would send me a new placard with a higher rating (only reason for the low rating was the lack of console). I just found myself a used yamaha 90 hp 2 stroke in extremely good condition. I am going to bolt that up and purchase a small side console with steering.

With the 90, i shouldn't have to run her at WOT to get the speed i want so the motor won't be straining all of the time. And, if I want to bring a couple extra bags of decoys and an extra person, I'll have the power to haul them.

I can't wait to get her in the water. This is going to be a great boat. If all goes well I'll be fishing from it this weekend. Thanks again for the advice.

No problem Bruce.
Sorry for the massively long delay in responding. I think you are really going to enjoy that boat. I sure enjoy my War Eagle.
I'm thinking about putting a duck blind on my boat this fall and just hunt out of it. Talk about having plenty of room in that thing. These are really big and roomy. Nothing better than having a lot of room to do your thing when hunting or fishing. Plus, if you are like me I like taking a couple of people....maybe more with me when I go hunting so there isn't a problem.
Hope it all works out for you. Also, if you ever want to hook a pre fab or custom duck blind up, War Wagle makes a duck boat blind bracket that allows one to hook up to the sides of the boat via there T-lock system on the boat.
Later,
Monte
