I have a boat that I would like to sell . The boat has very little use (fresh water only) and has always been stored inside.

A few questions--

Is there a meter to tell how many hours are on the boat? I don't think there is but was wanting to be sure.

Where can I get a replacement bimini for the boat? The last time I used it I forgot to put it down like an idiot and bent it on the garage header. I would like to get an original one that could use the existing mounts on the boat. I know there are lots of choices out there but figured it would be easiest to go OEM.

How much should this sell for? Some of the ads I see don't make a lot of sense and the prices seem way too high. I'm looking to price it fair and reasonable and some of the prices don't make sense as they are higher than what I bought it new for.

Thanks!

Scott

If its a newer engine a dealer / mechanic can access the computer and find the hours. If its an oldie no way to tell unless you have an hour meter on the dash.

Biminis are expensive. You will probably not recoup your cost for a new one if you replace it. Just leave it off but leave the hardware on the deck. Let the new owner figure it out.

Look on NADA marine (boat) used figures and that will be a start.

Thanks for the information! The biminis are also a pain. So many styles but none of them look like the original. Good advice to just hold off on that.

I appreciate your help!

OP you give exactly zero information regarding the boat other than it has a broke bimini. It’s impossible to give you an estimate of what it should sell for. Give a detailed description including manufacture , model of boat, length, year of manufacture, engine, general condition and more. Also provide a couple pictures.
Regarding hours on the engine the boat would need to be equipped with an hour meter which would be mounted with your other gauges. If it’s not there then you don’t have one.

Okay. Sorry about that. I thought I put that in the header but it looks like I didn't. It would be kind of hard to give me anything on that information.

It's a 2016 Bayliner VR6 in very good condition. It's only been in fresh water and not very much at that. It has always been stored inside a closed garage. There aren't that many options to choose from but it has the "teak" flooring, and the 230 4.3 engine.

I wasn't sure if photos were allowed because I'm sure there is a "selling section" somewhere but here are a few pictures I just took.

Thanks,

Scott

As Gerry would have said: "Now we're gettin somwhere".

So, I'll repeat what I said in the first place....

- A Dealer can tell you the hours with his laptop and appropriate software.
- NADA will give you an idea of selling price.

Add 20% +- because its a sellers market now. If you're really serious and just want it done, give it to your local dealer, let him take the commission and it'll be done in a few days.

That sounds like a plan. Just need to find someone local that will handle it for me. I would imagine a boat would be a pain with potential buyers wanting to test drive it and all (but of course I would expect them to want to-just a pain to coordinate it).

A dealer would be able to handle that part much better. Is there a standard rate they would typically take on commission?

My son just got transferred 4 states away. No boating there. He sold his house in 2 days, and then he called his dealer about his 3 year old garage kept boat. They took it back, no questions asked, didn't need a sea trial or even an inspection. The commission was 10%.

He had been dealing with them for 10+ years, but they were 60 miles away. The local dealer (2 miles away) offered him a buyback with a 25% commission, contingent on an inspection. In their defense, he had never dealt with them before.

That should give you a little perspective....

Welcome to iBoats . . . :D

Go put up a classified Ad in the "Boats for Sale" section of the iBoats website. Solicitation/selling on the forums itself is a no-no.

As far as the price . . . it seems like the VR6 is a fairly new model  Brandy new ones are $46K ish. It seems like slightly used are $35K ish.

Your choice as to get the bimini fixed (or not) - might be more $$$$ than you would expect - just don't do it again.
