I have a couple of seat cushions that the seems are starting to separate on that I'd like to restore. Also, I'd like to make a new custom cushion to connect the two front seats in the open bow together, so that the seat cushions "wrap" around the entire open bow. Now it just has two separate seats. Plus a friend has a boat that needs a complete interior restore. We are both interested in learning how to do this kind of work ourselves. I've checked around locally and can't find anyone who teachs this like trade schools or community colleges. So I'm wondering how I might be able to learn this? Thanks for any suggestions.

Do a search for upholstery here on the forum and on youtube. Never sewed a stitch till I got here last year.

"Building and Upholstering a Bench Seat"

These guys have a LOT of good vids on basic upholstery.

You'll need a Heavy duty Sewing Machine. Not neccessarily a Commercial but not an el cheapo either. I got a "Morse" that was ALL METAL construction for $75 on CL and it works great. Sews through 6 layers of 30oz vinyl with no issues.
