Want idle

86 25hp evinrude can't get it to idle. Carb newly rebuilt new plugs. I start at 1 1/4 turn to start then 1/8 turns looking for that sweet spot. Idle and jerks then goes dead. Top end speed great, compression good. Any ideas, missing fishing.

It is running too lean on low speed mixture or throttle plate is opening too early.----Try moving the stop ( item 71 ) on that thin rod at the back of it.

Does it run okay at slightly above idle speed?
Examine all the wires that are coming out of the Armature Plate for scraped Insulation, and watch them as the Throttle is opened and closed, for any rubbing.

Here's one, coming out of my tiller one big line which I guess is throttle, 2 small lines which I guess is kill switch. that doesn't work. One wire goes to ground the other to plug above my thermostat. Is this kill switch wires. If so found something interesting, semm to be fused together below the head.

Don't know what 71 is, I'm thinking it's electrical from wiring on kill button

did you clean out the upper low speed chamber under the dime size plug ??
is the carb gasket the proper type with the side hole

did you clean/blast the idle channel leading to the top LS needle

see old style carb...same issues exept ypours has a HS fixed jet instead of a HS needle

Isn't that collar part of the Fuel Saver Linkage, used to open the Carb, after all the Ignition Advance has taken place?

Correct.-----An adjustment that looks wrong to the novice when it is where it needs to be.
