VRO Pump Failure

I have read that when these pumps fail they tend to "over oil" the fuel mixture.
I have twin '95 175 Johnsons and notice that the port engine smokes and uses more oil that the starboard, particularly at idle. Smoke was definitely more noticeable today after trolling for a while but seemed to "clear-out" after running at higher RPM's.
Does this seem like the beginnings of a VRO Pump failure?

No....Smoking on the troll as well as clearing afterward is perfectly normal

Tony, those OMS pumps will add more oil to the gasoline, if there is an air leak in the gasoline line. Check the main strainers gasket and Orings for air leaks. Ditto on all fuel line to fitting connections.

Think I have every connection checked I can including the spin-on separator.....I guess a little too much smoke is better than no smoke at all!

Some will argue.----But it is easy to take these pumps apart.----Inspect and repair.----The oil side is a wee piston with an o-ring.----Have you checked the oil filter in the oil tank ?----Done the oil output test to compare the 2 units ?

Can't get to the oil filter in the tank to easily, last time I checked the output test I did it by checking usage w/ the clear plastic tube, really to make sure oil was being drawn in........and to check the no oil alarm while running off pre-mix

Not sure how practical it is to mix 150 gallons of fuel at a time.

Easier to refill a 3 gallon oil tank
