I have read that when these pumps fail they tend to "over oil" the fuel mixture.
I have twin '95 175 Johnsons and notice that the port engine smokes and uses more oil that the starboard, particularly at idle. Smoke was definitely more noticeable today after trolling for a while but seemed to "clear-out" after running at higher RPM's.
Does this seem like the beginnings of a VRO Pump failure?
