My VRO system on my "91" 40 Johnson currently works fine ! I was doing some cleaning and noticed the power leads going into the pump system.( for lack of proper terminology)Both wires have lost the insulation near the ends and exposed copper is visable. Pulled the pump out of the Oil tank and tried to split the upper section where the leads entered the upper case.Tried to split the case but couldn't.I did not want to use force.I could tell it must come apart because there are two screws underneath and a gasket between them. My question is this, can the wires be reworked and re-attached at that point? Or is this something that must be replaced as a whole unit. And what would be the best way to split this thing apart without breaking it ? Thanks for all!

Re: VRO Injection

The easiest repair would be with "liquid Electrical Tape". It comes in a yellow can, and is sold in most auto part and hardware stores. It has a brush in the handle, like a PVC glue can. The stuff is great. I coat ALL exposed elctrial connections with this stuff.

Re: VRO Injection

Hey 12 Footer,<br />Thanks for the response! This morning I called Johnsons customer service in Waukegan,Il, and the tech pretty much told me to try the same thing. So, after work today I strolled down to Boat US near my house and found that very same stuff that you recomended. Liquid Tape! Interesting stuff. I think that might be just what the Doctor ordered! I just can't say enough good things about this site and all the good people that monitor it. Until the next problem Thanks again! T-290 :D
