Hi,

While doing some minor fiddling on the boat (stored outside for the winter), I ended up with some reddish smudges on the back of my hands. Eventually, I found that it was coming off the hydraulic hoses from the tilt pump. Upon really close inspection I could see tiny dots of reddish fluid collected on both hoses. These are the hoses that lead from the pump to the manifold block on the transom shield.

I thought originally that they were spray from a leak on the pump. But, I don't see the dots on the transom or anywhere else.

Here is a picture of what I'm looking at. (Assuming that I got the image magic right).

The dots are definitely reddish in color, but don't really smell like ATF or PS fuild. There is a moderate amount of condensation on various other surfaces.

I can't see any evidence of a leak in the pump. I may have a small internal leak past the ram seals as the drive won't always stay up overnight, but there is never a leak or drop anywhere.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

johnbo
