Hey all
I have a 2001 VP 3.0 and the drive says “SX” on it. Don’t know if “SX 175” is correct or if that is referring to the model of the glastron boat ??

When the boat has been sitting in the water I don’t see an oil sheen, but once I get on and jump around a little bit the tiniest sheen appears (like 1’ wide around the drive). I trimmed it up to look at stuff and it made the sheen bigger. Wondering where and how to start exploring to see what it might be?
Thanks for any thoughts

Inspection of the trim system complete
This is my first boat that has a trim system so I’m not sure how to inspect it. Put the boat on a trailer and do a visual inspection? Am I supposed to pressure test it somehow? So far all I did was check the level of the resevoir, and I can keep my eye on that to see if it changes. But I assume whatever leak there is is pretty small

While there are procedures for pressure testing its involved with needed fitting and gauges.
Instead pull the boat and once all dry wipe down all the fitting into the cylinders as well as making sure there is no oil residue on the cylinder rods. A difficult place to get to is where the cylinder hoses connect to the transom manifold block but make sure you are cleaning that area of any residue oil. With everything nice, clean, and dry cycle the trim up and down several times and look for any wetness (oil) at the hose connections and cylinder rod seals. It may take 5 or more cycles and best if have someone do this for you while you are observing. Also have a large piece of pristine cardboard under the area when doing this. A drop of oil that you may not have seen will be obvious on the cardboard. You will find the leak.

I just wanted to close this thread out. Ends up it was a bad o-ring in the oil fil port that is near the shift linkages. Changed the oil and the o ring and all seems well. Just wanted to post that in case anyone is referencing this in the future. Thanks !
