2 times this weekend after cruising 15 minutes at 4000 rpm (starting off in the morning, engine speed goes above 5000 rpm) I came to a no wake zone and reduced to 1000 rpm. I started to get 1 beep every 1 minute. Oil pressure on gauge read 60 psi, water temp read 175F. Once through the no wake zone, I tried to throttle up but only could get 3600 rpm climbing slowly to 4200 rpm. This is Engine Protection Mode, correct? 1 beep every 1 minute continued until I got back to the dock. Shutting down then restarting causes 3 beeps at ignition on then a 5 second long beep when engine starts. I can't find much documentation anywhere. Serial # A1063938 2019 model year boat with 10 hours on it (it sat in storage for about 3 years).

Going to need the motor scanned to find out. It may be overheating even though the gauges reads lower. The gauge and PCM do not use the same sensor. Can use a IR Temp gun to verify the thermostat housing reads same as gauge. If it does the PCM sensor may be off or other things. Just no way of knowing without a scan

I've ordered a Techmate Pro scan tool. I have no patience dealing with dealers.

Agree. I just moved from basic Merc 4.3 to a new VP 4.3 250 hp 4.3. Good VP warranty, but the dealer has a long wait list if I ever need him. I'm queued up to buy a Rinda/Diacom Techmate.
BTW, I like your good, fast, cheap sig. ...used it often before retirement. ...never got me far with the bosses.

Got the Rinda Techmate Pro yesterday. Scanned and found 4 codes this morning. Cleared them then went for a test ride. One kept coming up.... SPN 4237 FMI 0 Exhaust 1/LT Fuel Trim. Basically this is reporting a lean combustion condition. Online reading pointed me towards fuel restrictions, bad sensors, exhaust leak or stuck injectors.

First thing I did was run over to the local Volvo dealer {5 minutes away) and grabbed a new fuel filter. I also put a can of Sea Foam in the tank. This boat has been in storage for over 3 years with a 1/2 tank of gas so who knows what is lurking in the filter. I crawled down into the engine bay and I just started to slip the filter wrench over the filter when I saw that it was barely screwed on! I replaced it with the new one and properly installed it. After purging the air out, I made several runs on the lake to try and reproduce the fault but no go..... No faults!

So much for the dealer checking everything over during prr-delivery inspection. I'm thinking the filter was sucking air since I now realize the low pressure pump was gurgling every time I keyed up.

Couldn't have done anything without the scan tool.

Since it is a 2019 model, do have the Volvo EVC display? Any warnings that come up or can be viewed in the warning history? the beeps are annoying and don't really tell much.

I do not have the EVC display. My engine model number is V6-280-M not V6-280-CE. Can an EVC display be added to mine?

The C means it's a catalyst equipped engine.
The E means it's a EVC equipped engine.
Both of these options are incredibly expensive it add.

Volvo sells a product called "Easy Connect"
That will give you some of the features a EVC display.

I will warn you that both the Volvo easy connect and the MerCruiser vessel view are no substitute for a scan tool as they don't always display (same goes for the EVC display) all the codes. They were really designed to give the owner a little better heads up to take the boat to the dealer.
