new to boating..but decent with mechanics. I have a 4.3 omc
with volvo penta sterndrive. Started overheating primarily when
planing. Fine when slow and when stopped..engine can be at
high rpm when stopped. Replaced impeller and debris that
was gathered around thermostat. I think air is being pulled
when at plane level. Hooked up muffs and disconnected input hose
to engine. Water does not make it up to hose..pours out from
the bottom of the drive (around anode) I assume water SHOULD
make it up to the hose. I was hoping for verification before I
started pulling apart the unit to search for source of air/water
leakage. (I did reverse flow..water hose into intake hose by
engine and water made it through and out of water intake holes
on drive). Appreciate any info.
