85 bayliner with volvo penta q125a motor. Recently we put another carb and it gets gas and starts then when put into gear boat dies everytime. Not sure what to try next.

did you just buy the boat?
Is it in the water?
Why did you replace the carburetor?
Can you put the trans in neutral?
Can you spin the prop by hand?
Is there oil in the outdrive?
