volvo penta parts compatibility

i've worked on a couple merc and johnson outboards but i'm unfortunately new to stern drives. my buddy has a 21 foot stern drive with a volvo penta engine, and 2 days ago he hit a rock and managed to break the prop shaft losing the prop and everything with it. bearing carrier and everything inside seems to be good so at this point just thinking to replace prop shaft, oil seals, prop, and then those other components that fell off like washers nut, retaining ring, etc. I'm trying to help him track down parts so i can do the repairs myself so he doesnt have to pay a fortune at the shop. by some miracle i found someone parting out a similar motor on facebook marketplace for dirt cheap, but i'm not sure how compatible the parts will be for it.
what he's got: Volvo Penta SX Cobra, product number 3868395 serial number: 4112039872
the info i got from the fb person: Volvo Penta PN 850678 serial number 610639
how can i find out if any of these parts are compatible? if they aren't, any way i could find out which motors will have interchangeable parts so i can narrow down my search?

Ayuh,..... Yer bud needs a drive from another Volvo SX from the same vintage, that had the same motor to work properly,.....

FYI - 850678 is a transom shield for a 280 drive. other than the volvo penta name and the drain plug, there is nothing common between the two drives.
