Volvo Penta Outboard.

Hello

I`ve recently bought a boat from Germany... it came with an Outboard 1978/3 Cyl/2 Stroke/40Hp Volvo Penta VPU 450 Engine (or this is what is writen on the papers)... the problem is that i can`t find this type of engine anywhere ... So i can`t find any service/repair manuals ... or any materis regarding this engine...

I`m not sure this is the right section for this question but i really don`t know any other place to ask...

Any ideeas or help about this engine will be very appreciated.

The part i don`t understand is why i can`t find any info about this engine since i know for sure the model exists ... i have it on my garage
Even on volvo website i can`t find this model

are ya sure its a Volvo and not a Johnson that someone put a Volvo sticker on lol ????

very sure ... the only thing i found on google about this engine is a cover sold on ebay ... ONLY thing.

Is same is mine ... only on my cover it says Volvo Penta 450.

i to have just bought a boat with a volvo penta 400 outboard and ian looking for a manual. what ive found so far is before volvo came it was arcimeades penta outboards. ill keep looking and we might come up with somthing edd937.

Volvo indeed made outboards in the 70:s, they were quite common here in Sweden back then. Volvo bought an old domestic outboard-factory Archimedes Penta, and continued to make outboards until 1979(I think). They were never particulary good, and nowadays you rarely see them here where I guess most of them were sold. But I saw a 7.5hp last summer...

I today just picked up a volvo 700 outboard, and I would love to know where to buy parts for it.
