I have a Volvo Penta 5.7 GSi PEFS, I think around 2000 model. Trying to resolve an issue with idle speed and wondering if all these GM Volvo Penta have an OBD port to check if any codes thrown???

Ah bugger. So just had a quick internet flick. Is that just a software based system or do you need a type of physical reader??

RINDA
Rinda makes the Techmate Pro and Diacom software, both need adapters to connect to motor. Each version of a motor may need a different adapter. Use their selection tool and it will show which ones will work

I have a 2001 5.7 GXi-A w/ a MEFI 3 ECM. Suggest that you look into the Fox Marine NEMA 2K gateway - it's like magic! If you don't already have a NEMA 2K backbone on your boat, you'll need to install it ... <$100. Then you hook up the Fox Gateway to the ECM diagnostic port (OBD) then connect to the NEMA 2K drop and if by magic ALL of the MEFI 3 parameters are available for display on your NEMA 2K chart plotter. If you don't have a NEMA 2K chart plotter - no worries. The gateway has a Bluetooth transmitter that interfaces easily to the Fox Marine app on your phone. All parameters are available real-time on your phone.

It's a wonderful system for the older MEFI engines - about $300.

Yes, works very well on my 2004 5.7Gi-D. Now I have all parameters on my Garmin, even fuel consumption.
If Fox Marine could update their app to include 'clear codes' for the Android version like they did for their Apple app it would be perfect.

I have the Diacom software loaded on a small laptop and the Diacom adapter. It's a great product. If you do your own mechanic work on your marine engine and it's got a port to connect to, then sooner or latter you will need the Diacom.
