Been tracking down a problem for the past 6-8 months with irregular idle and stalling, had the mechanic at the house today and it turns out its a bad ecu. Does anyone know where I can find a used ECU without paying top dollar for a new one? Another idea if anyone has access to the schematic drawings for the ecu internals, or is there somewhere I could send the ECU for repair? I notice online rebuild services for automotive computers. The problem is the secondary driver circuitry for the IAC Valve which can't be that hard to repair. The engine is a 2005 5.0 OSi-EF and the Volvo Part #3863330
I know a lot of the parts on this engine have a automotive counterpart, would a automotive ECU work for this? Thanks for the help!

There are part numbers on your ecm module...post them. I find it hard to believe that a ecm works partially....Its just a eprom that works or doesnt...Now a bad connection that makes sense

Re: Volvo Penta ECU IAC Drive Circuit

I'll find the part number on my ECM tonight. The way we determined that half the circuit wasnt working was by plugging in a IAC test module to the ECM harness and observing the lights. There are two lights on the tester and my ECM only flashed one of them. We then plugged in a ECM from a 2004 5.0 which flashed both lights and made a difference in the way that the motor ran and responded when returning to idle. Could it be an incomplete flash from the dealer? I just had them update my ECM thinking that maybe the problem was software related, but as it turns out I had a lot of salt in my distributer cap causing a faulty spark I think.
