We just replace the 5.7 engine in my boat. We are getting gas to the carb. When you turn the key on both sides of the coil are hot. I have checked the kill switch to make sure it is hooked up, when you pull it the coil goes dead. The wire going into the distrubitor is hot but we still arean't getting fire to the plugs. We tried a different coil but didn't help. The engine was running at the end of the year in 2009. Boat was not winterized and broke the block. I pretty sure all electrical wires are hooked up. Any help?

What is the full model number of the engine?

When you say it's not firing, does that mean you don't have spark, or it won't start?

Impossible to say what the problem is, without know model, we don't know what type distributor you have, so hard to give any troubleshooting advise.
