Volvo Penta 4.3gl Starts when in start position and dies in on positon

Hello, I have 1996 four winns 195 sundower dxl that was put away badly. i have cleaned up and trying to get motor going. i have it trying to run when i first start then dies when in the on position of the key. i have tested and i do lose spark when key is off the start position. what should i be looking for? key switch ? oil pressure sensor? it has had lots of moisture and i have cleaned up some connections such as neutral cable and gas sending unit so dash does work. thanks for any and all help.

There were several GL's models A thru E which I have but could be more

With loosing spark when key is released from start, see if 12V is at the coil, assume it will not be there. Then check for 12V at the key on the purple wire. If no power then it's the key switch

you were spot on.. switch was the issue!!! it ran great.. thanks again. do you happen to know where the temp gauge sensor is ? it the only thing not working on dash. I have manual and wiring diagram, but doesnt show location. thanks

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,...... It should be in/ on/ near the t-stat housing,......
