A minor flaw in there design of coil mounting at the rear of an engine. Water from washing, wave action ,rain, etc that get on the coil starts to rust and swell the lamination's resulting in a no spark condition. Should this happen inspect the steel lamination's for rust and swelling. Any GM coil can replace it by grinding off the rivets and replacing with nuts and bolts.-An added precaution is to spray heavily with CRC corrosion inhibitor on the coil when the install is complete and further protect it by placing a plastic cover over the engine to keep it dry.
