The circulation water pump went out on my boat this year, so instead of doing the easy thing and buying it direct from a Volvo distributor, I decided to see if I could get one from the local auto parts house. Short story, after searching for quite a while, I found it. It turns out that it is from a 1958 Chevrolet Biscayne, with a 283 in it. So for all of you out there like me, who dont want to pay full Volvo price for things, add this one to your parts list. AutoZ*** PN CWP373, price 31.99 with a lifetime warranty! They also have this pump in a Heavy duty model AutoZ*** PN CWP-373HD, price 69.99, and also an ALuminum Heavy Duty Model AutoZ*** PN CWP-373HDA, price 139.99.

Get a marine pump. In a raw water cooled engine the seals and bushings will not last long using an automotive pump.

Seals and bushings in the circulation Pump? The pump has a lifetime warranty, it only takes about 15 minutes to change, and for 31.99, even if I had to pay replacement cost every year... You get the picture. As long as you are talking about the seals and bushings in the circ pump.

You might get away with it the first time but I'm sure if you kept going back they'd notice either the constant higher RPMs used on the pump (compared to auto use) or if used in salt water, the corrosion ...

I'm not saying using the automotive water pump is a good idea, but you are giving the guys at autozone WAY too much credit.

Looks like this is Volvo part number 3853850, which is also used on my 5.7GS PEFS.
