Re: volvo 280 conversion to bravo 2
Just wanted to share so of my recent experiences. I have a 1989 21 ft cuddy cabin that the original owner (have paper work to confirm) insisted on a bravo drive which was in only its second year of production, and since the B1 was only available with behind a Big Block, my boat was equiped with a 5.7 L and a Bravo 2. The B2 was the only way to get a Bravo and a 5.7L, which my my opinion over powers my boat with in spec, and I am not complaining. I used to boat for most of last summer with the B2 with both the original 25P and a 23P props and it performed just fine in both cases. WOT RPMs with the 23 was better. Late in the season I swapped the B2 with a 1.5 ratio B1 and I felt it was a much better fit. Both to speed (although never really spent much time there) and WOT RPMs increased. I am no expert but the B2 will work but as stated above a B1 or B3 would be better. Both B2 and B3 props are big $$$$$
