HellO All: First time post!
I am completing a new motor install in my '88 Imperial (23' cutty).
It has a new 5.7 L GM long block and the original 275 outdrive.
My problem is the front of the upper drive unit, I believe it is called the "clamp ring" is chewed up. This is the part with the drive shaft installed that connects through the bell housing. This parts connects the drive bellows on the outdrive side.
I'm told a new part without the bearings, rings and shaft is over $500.
Does anyone know where I can find this part in good used condition? Is anyone aware of a reasonable alternative to replacing this drive without major surgery to the transom?
Your help is most appreciated.
Regards, Paul
