Re: voltage regulator

The original problem was the battery was getting drained. And volt meter stays 11.5-12v. So i changed the regulator.
Now the battery is not getting drained. Volt meter is staying the same.
The engine turns on fine at 1st. Took it for a quick spin for about 30min with no problem. Turned the boat off and on again without a problem. Then all the sudden when i try again its just turning and not starting. I check the battery cables and the negative(black)is burning up.

Re: voltage regulator

the cable that is getting hot, how big is it? is it possible you left another ground strap off? Is the positive cable getting hot?
Are the wires getting hot up to the regulator? Best disconnect the ground before you have a fire, then we'll continue.........
Re: voltage regulator

The last time i checked it was just the negative that was hot. Before i changed the regulator it was both. The wires got hot all the way up to the starter.

Is it posible my starter solenoid is bad? looks pretty rusty to me.

I dont wanna change the whole wiring harness.
