There are many different exhaust problems of which there are different symptoms and solutions.

It would help to know exactly what you are experiencing to point you in the right direction

Thank you for replying. Boat starts running feeling a bit chocked out. When getting to 3000-4000 rpm engine hits up above maximum and boat alarm starts. Boat then stutteres and runs on low rpm. Engine starts to cool off. Also noticed Little smoke comeing behind and backfire. Boat has 130 hours. Engine in good condition and cooling system good condition

Is this efi or carbureted?

The alarm can be a few different things depending whether efi or carbureted.

Are all the guages reading within safe limits when you have the issue?

It's efi and all guages are safe mode

At this point, based on information given your best option is to use a diagnostic tool to check the fault history on the ecm. This will tell you the cause of the alarm and which avenue to proceed for further troubleshooting.

Seeing as how you mention the rpms decrease and the engine starts to "cool off" I would guess the ecm is forcing guardian mode based on an overheat

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... Backfirin' suggests a lean condition,.....

Pull the fuel filter, 'n examine it's contents in a clear vessel, for anything but clean fresh gasoline,.....

my guess is the fuel is crap like Bondo has you checking in post #7 and the engine is detecting a misfire or multiple misfires

you made this statement. however where are your facts. 130 hours in a 10 year old boat means the boat sat for 3-4 years minimum. low hours is not really a good thing

have you done a compression test?
fuel pressure test?
replaced the raw water pump?

if you havent, do that after you replace the fuel filter and inspect the contents. if you have anything other than clean and clear fuel. time to drain and clean the fuel system from the tank to the injectors.

The alarm on these can mean many many things. But to do this is suggesting a full guardian mode. I’d suggest you start with looking at the temperature when this happens.
