Has anyone used this with good results? I have a older 16' open Jon type boat that I'm either wanting to strip and paint or try the vinyl camo wrap. Since it's an older boat, it is riveted. I'm wondering how the vinyl would lay over the rivets? I've read some of there websites which states you can put it over them, just wondering if someone has used this stuff and how it went.

Re: Vinyl Camo Wrap

Visit a local vinyl shop. They should have samples of their work, including trailers & etc that have rivets under the vinyl..

Requires a plastic spatula & diligence to run it around & tight to each rivet head to chase any air pockets....

Thanks jb,

I'm a diy'er and was wondering the time spent trying to get it to lay flat vs just stripping and painting it. There are LOTS of rivets on my old boat.

Vinyl shops also use a low temp heat gun or a hair dryer to "shrink" the vinyl over things like rivets...takes a little practice, but it works really well...;)

Yeah, low temp heat gun, that'd be the part the vinyl shop left out when they cut a deal w/ my wife's cousin on a wrap for his trailer, for him to install himself...

Get 1 (or 6+ maybe ) too hot a spot and watch it shrink away from the widening hole, oh so quickly .... I quickly decided I was working a double shift that weekend.........
