Seems like I rebuild a lot of stuff and get tired of it, but I’m not really a plastic tank IMG_1039.jpegkind of guy, so I guess it’s unavoidable. Pretty sure the tank is a ‘68 because I believe it came with the boat/motor/trailer combo, a ‘68 6 hp Fisherman and ‘68 Crestliner sold as a package by Sears back in the day. The connector has the two pins, the side with the brass washer is leaking. My understanding is I will need two different o rings and a plug. I’m having trouble figuring out the correct part numbers and a source for good quality parts online. Any help appreciated. Also, any pointers, links to good posts or videos for this procedure also appreciated. Some of the stuff I’ve seen so far looks a little sketchy. Thanks.

The one pin sticks out further than the other.-----A clear indication of the o-ring inside being bad.---Remove the 2 plugs on the fitting.------One wee o-ring / quad ring behind that brass washer.-----Find the part # at ----Crowley marine.-----evinrudeparts.ca--------------I used to do this repair on a regular basis at an authorized Johnson dealer 50 years ago.-----Not sure what dealers do today at $2.00 / minute.-----One shop told me he just sells people a new tank.-----But today you can not find a tank that compares to those wonderful original steel tanks !

I know this is an older thread but does anyone know a source for these o-rings and tiny quad ring that doesn't charge 6 bucks each!? also how about the welch plugs? I see it all offered as a kit for 16 bucks on ebay, should I just pay that or try to get measurement etc. and try McMasters? Kills me to pay this kind of money for stuff that you know cost pennies to make. Thanks, Joe.

Farmers do not have to pay cows to eat the grass , so why do they want so much money for milk.-----These parts cost just pennies to make.----It is the storage / handling that costs the big money.
