Hi , new to this forum.
Im in the middle of trying to purchase a new boat, I have been offered the boat with a 2013 Mariner 125 Opti fitted.
Any views on this engine,? seems quite a complex engine with all the electronics on it, but does it work,?
Any / all thoughts welcome. Thanks.

They work and they work well. Great gas mileage and power. They don't sound like a typical 2 stroke but the alternative is heavy, slow and also complicated 4 strokes. Will it last forever? Will you?

I would buy a 2 before I'd buy a 4 these days. I understand the Optimax is and was designed to be a very reliable outboard. I think it was to compete with the Bombadier E Tech.

Cheers Wired and Texas for your comments. Have been doing a lot of reading as of late on these motors,
havent read too many horror stories, I guess its all about how you lookafter these things.!
That said, at the end of the day its a machine, albeit a quite high tec one, and machines do break down.
Hopefully not when your 10 Mile off shore..! Thanks again.
