it would be hard to imagine a DP-B would be confused with anything......

Not sure what you mean by that, from the outside, the DP-B looks identical to a DP-A

no...what I meant was the previous owner.....

in my mind it may be easier for *him* to confuse DP-A with 290A (and give me the wrong info.....) than DP-A with DP-B. Especially if he was doing maintenance and had a 290 manual or something like that.

So basically if I had to give my best guess.... I would think my drive is a DP-A not a DP-B

he did mistake the holley carb to be 850 when it was 650.... so it is not out of the realm of possibility

Re: vibrations on 290A

ok,

weather is not cooperating today......

But, I was thinking.... in preparing to take the upper unit off.....(basically while I have the upper unit off)

is there anything else that should be changed out? like raw water hose?

Small items like this that can be a pain in the future I would rather just change out if I can. Is there anything else?

I know we will know more once I have the upper unit off.... but I really prefer to complete the work in one day since the boat is outside. or maybe I can just put a plastic bag around it. ???
