very strange stator problem

i have a 1979 evinrude 115. i am getting a very erratic spark so i traced the problem back to the stator. with the stator disconnected from the rectifier i get 150v dva from the plug on the starboard side and 110v dva from the port side.i did these tests with the plugs disconnected from the powerpacks. so i did the logical thing and bought a new stator and still have the same problem. the voltages are the same 150v on the starboard, 110v on the port side. i checked the magnets inside the flywheel and none are loose or show signs of hitting anything. anyone have any suggestions?
