I have meat for dinner everyday! Nothing better than eggplant parmesan. Yum Yum

If vegans abhor meat, why are all the plant-based things made to look like and taste meaty? I can't say taste like meat because they don't.

been asking my two veg/vegans in my family that for years. Plus one eats bivalves (oysters, scallops etc) and shrimp. Anything without eyes. She states shrimp do not have eyes....

Plus they both eat cheese, which I had forgotten until this weekend most contains rennet. If you are not aware:

ren·net
/ˈrenət/

noun
  1. curdled milk from the stomach of an unweaned calf, containing rennin and used in curdling milk for cheese.

I do like some variants of veggie burgers that are not trying to be meat. That said, I will be trying the new BK one. Cant complain about it unless have the facts. Plus I can try the new taco at the same time.

Here is my review:

Lets start with the taco. It is trying to be a mega Jack in the Crack (aka jack in the box) taco. The meat type substance tastes exactly the same, however the accoutrements not so much. The shell was tough and chewy, almost too much to get thru so fails a whole. But, I’ll try again to see if the shell gets better as they learn more especially since we do not have a Jacks in town to fill my need for substandard tacos every few months.

The burger, compared to the normal ****ty fast food burger available from the top four it is about the same. A decent Jack or Wendy’s burger it always better but to the regular whopper and McD’s crap it is the same. The chew was similar, taste on all the toppings the same, but the meat did not have the ‘flame broiled’ flavor the regular whopper does. So apparently they need to add some more chemicals to get that flavor.

Interesting to note is the vegetarian version is only 50 calories less so if strictly calories is your concern really no difference there but if like my buddy Jim Berry you are avoiding meat for health reasons it is passable overall.

Jim did say he had a Beyond Beef burger that was better than his experience with the Impossible Burger so someday when I get close to a Target I might try that as well.

I like to tell my veggie eating friends that "My ancestors didn't spend ten thousand years climbing to the top of the food chain for me to go back to eating twigs and berries."
