The food sellers are really pushing these "no meat" all vegetable products up here in Canada. From grocery stores to fast food joints. Same price as real meat products. Most burgers sold frozen and in fast food joints have a ton of filler in them already, and they aren't cheap. A Big Mac, fries and a pop here is 12 bucks. I am told these veg based "non meat" things are not necessarily healthy either.Loaded with sodium and all sorts of stuff I can't pronounce. We tried one yesterday at Tim Hortons and won't be trying them again. If the Good Lord wanted me to be a veggie guy He wouldn't have given me insisor teeth to tear meat from the bone of a critter.

Have any of you tried them?

Yes. A health event kinda forced that. Use a lot of sauce and stuff to give it taste. To me, the "veggie pattie" is a relatively harmless filler (unlike most meat burgers), put lots other stuff on it (fortunately sodium, not a big issue for me - so hot sauce is a big part), wash it down with beverage of choice, continue boating.

I wonder if the fast food places fry these veggie burgers on the same grill next to the meaty ones while the grease and fat contaminate the soybeans, peas, fungus or bamboo cellulose used to make them meatless?

I like a good Black Bean burger, but generally not the "Veggie Burgers."

I tried being a vegetarian for a couple of years ... I didn't like it. It didn't like me. 'Speck is right, there are some black bean burgers out there that are pretty good. There's also a veggie burger that you could make that had kind of a crispy exterior to it (not breaded), and it was pretty decent - but you couldn't expect it to taste like a hamburger.

Real grass fed beef ... elk ... bison ... :hungry:

I know what you mean. I tried being a vegetarian for about 8 minutes and it didn't work for me either.

I'm a vegetarian. The animals I eat, forage on grasses, grains, you know, vegetation. It's an excellent way for me to get my vegetables!

This was last night, my version of an ideal burger. Real meat, put some Worcestershire and Pick-a-Peppar sauce on it, light Montreal Steak season, garlic powder. Grill over charcoal, and grilled onion, crispy center cut bacon and cheese on an onion bun. Also had some sweet corn left that we jarred last fall, you can almost taste the thunderstorms in that corn (not pictured). 20190729_222032-2268x3024.jpg

I tried the beyond meat breakfast sandwich at Timmys. It seemed salty and just weird. That was enough for me.

Look at all the vegetables there. That qualifies as daily a serving of veggies to me. Mont Steak Spice has herbs and spices, catsup has tomatoes, Worchestire is made from vegetable stuff, an onion is a veggie. That fke cheese is made from Soya oil, that grows in the dirt, garlic is one too, can't be more vegetable than corn. Buns are made from wheat. Hell charcoal comes from underground. Nope that is an old dead Dino. Plenty of veggies there for me. That burger looks fantastic. Email me one.

I have meat for dinner everyday! Nothing better than eggplant parmesan. Yum Yum

If vegans abhor meat, why are all the plant-based things made to look like and taste meaty? I can't say taste like meat because they don't.

Except bacon - I never saw a strip with perfectly uniform fat and meat strips. It may taste like bacon, but it doesn't look right.

Skip the middleman and give me fried tofu!

How do you cook a rare or medium rare veggie burger?

One of the veggie meat makers use beet juice for fake blood.

If they ever come up with fake T-bone steaks or St. Louis style ribs, will T-bones or rib bones be 3D printed?

Favorite holiday time snack is cannibal sandwiches. Raw ground round beef on rye bread with butter, salt, pepper and raw onions. YUM Does the rye bread and onions make me a veggy tarian?
