Hi All

Im running a late 80s v6 200hp merc on an 18ft deep V. The mota has developed a problem. It runs fine in neutral at low and high revs but has lost a little power (approx 10 mph) and lost revs (500-1000) at WOT whilst in gear. Also stalled whils in gear at WOT but started up again no probs. Have had new plugs and leads and this has made no dfference. Also checked fuel line primer bulb and tank breather - all fine

Sparks are all good and copression is fine. Removed cover from carbs today and inspected whilst engine was running. Noticed that a fine mist of fuel is being spat out of the right hand barrell of the bottom carb where as others seemed fine

Can anyone suggest what might be the cause of this as I feel this is what is causing my problems should I strip and clean carb??

Any help apprciated

Spitting back of fuel is usually indicative of a bad reed. Make sure the float is set properly before digging in.

I had a small 2 stroke motorcycle that was spitting fuel back of of the carb and it turned out to be a plugged ehaust tube to the muffler, (carbon build up from running way to rich to keep kids from blowing the engine).
Maybe do a decarb also before tearing into it.
