I hope im not missing something,my engine just will not fire unless I put a bit of fuel in the chokes of the carbs after leaving for a day or two, then it fires instanly, there isnt a choke is there, only fast idle, also now now its devolped a problem where it hunting on tickover,as if it soundenly burns extra fuel quickly then runs unevenly again then does it again etc, one other thing,is it an overflow pipe on the pressure system for the two stroke tanks, just beneath the two stroke tank in the engine there is a brass union that joins three pipes, the two bigger ones that pressurise the sustem and another coming off that union running down beside the starter but is not connected to anything,is this an overflow or should it be connected to something,, the engine seems to be running as if a vacume pipe is not connected or something
I appreciate any help, with my best regards

I believe that engine has an Enricher valve that feeds the carb for cold start. You have to push the key in while cranking.

I have the '91 model v135 - I would imagine it's similar.

What sunfish said, you press in the key to engage the choke.

as to your oil line:
you have a line going into the reservoir, that line has the t-fitting you described with another line that leads to no-where. After the t-fitting there is a 2 PSI check-valve.

The mercury service manual for my engines states:
If oil flow to reservoir is obstructed and injection pump continues to pump oil, the 2 PSI valve will open to allow air to enter reservoir to prevent a vacuum.

So, leave it as it is.
