Don't know how many people I outsmart while fishing, but I do take my fish dictionary with me. :) About 200 plugs worth of dictionary. And this is the to go box. :) :)

I usually do what ever the other guys aren't and fish areas they fail to try. I find structure in the middle of no where and fish ledges or change in water temp areas alot. Like where creek beds, even if there dry come out to the river. Time of day seems to be alot more important with fresh water than salt. Just the slightest change or action in one particular plug can play a big part. Fresh bait or old depending on there mood. etc etc

If on a boat, it does help to be able to find the structure clearly.

I am competitive. I *like* outfishing others but more like a proficiency test than a requirement. If I hear someone boating 25+ salmon (not that uncommon) and I have only boated one in four hours I really want to know what I am missing, don't know, or if in that instance it is as dumb and simple as the wrong lure color that day. I don't know what it is but it really bothers me when I can't do better than the average fisherman does by the reports at the ramp.:rolleyes::fencing:

It was a long time ago,but while in the army we sometimes got sick of rations and tried to fish a meal. I outfished everybody by taking a can of spam cutting some holes in it and tying it to a piece of wood so it would float. The fish would come up to eat the spam and once there were four or five fish feeding,I'd stick either an m16 or an AK 47 bullet right next to the can. The impact of the bullet on the water would stun the fish and they tasted (barely) better than yet again spam. why did I outfish the others? They tried it with low velocity pistol bullets while my gun did better than a thousand yards per second which made for great impact on the water surface.

Looks like an old Heddon Lucky 13 there Tail Gunner.

Never tried them at night.

I bet that white paint caught just enough moonlight to drive the walleyes crazy.

Heddon that was the lures the old man used...and ive found it just not a red bill and white body. That was one ugly lure back then tadpolly's
