When u start a project do u have to keep using the same brand? I have enough west system epoxy to coat my new transom. I was looking at getting another brand of epoxy resin for tieing in the new transom wood to the fiberglass.

You're ok provide you don't try to mix one part A with the part B of the other.

I'd also avoid working wet on wet between two different epoxies... they're probably chemically compatible (or identical) but you never know. Let the first one harden first then use the second product.

I was just going to use the west system to join and seal the 2 peices of transom plywood before installing it in the boat. I'll probably need around 6 gallons of epoxy resin to do this job. I was looking at marine epoxy which is WAY CHEAPER for 6 gallons then west system
