My Ev. dealer says he can not communicate with motor controller to run diagnostics. Motor has different symptoms every time you crank it! Dealer thinks it has ghost inside DFI computer. I tend to agree with them, because I can't find any sensors that check bad and I installed new high pressure fuel pump. I have 43 psi at fuel rail. Dealer says injectors 2&3 are not firing and he can't check timing. Does anyone know where I might locate one without spending $1200-1600.00 without knowing if this will solve my problem? Dealer wants me to buy new E-Tec, but I just bought this pontoon about 2-months ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

You got the Johnzuki motor, jump over to the Suzuki forums and see if anybody has a used one over there....#33920-99E91

If you trust me, ship me the EMM, and I will test it on a known good running 70 4 stroke.
I will ship it right back. Has to be the 5 individual plug style, not the single long plug style.
You will sh***t, but I bought an EMM on EBay last summer for 0.99. That's 99 cents.
I said what the heck, buy it and try it. It was good!.

So PM me if you want me to check your EMM out. No charge of course.

I think maybe I have a good reputation here....

EDIT: Oh, and DFI can't do anything with it, but you can certainly call and let them tell you.

You might want to check the specs on the fuel pressure. I`m thinking 46 psi and hold for 5 minutes with key off.

Those EMM's are burned and not programmed as the E-tech/Fichts. Once 'broken' - replace!

Thank you kindly, I'm glad I found this forum! The dealer I went to never mentioned this.

I appreciate this help. I will try to find the correct specs. if I can. I installed a new h.p. fuel pump in the vapor separator. However, the h.p. filter could be beginning to plug-up. Thanks alot!

Why don't you just sell me one of your good units that you lucked-out getting? My luck seems to never be that great!

I guess you are talking to me.......

But, no, I don't have any "spares". I bought a used motor 6 months ago, without EMM. So I was very lucky to find this one to go on the motor I bought.
The engine that I had here that I was going to test your EMM on has gone back to the customer.
I will have another one I am building ready for running sometime early next week. I could test your EMM then.

The offer is still good.

I hope you are not just shotgunnning parts. That HP fuel pump is expensive.

Doublecheck the EMM and lap-top connection. Unless the lap-top is set to use COM1 (at least lower than COM9), you will not be able to communicate with it.

Thanks Haffiman. I don't have data cable or diagnostic software. The dealer told me that he could not communicate with the EMM. He said he had all the latest and greatest equipment. Not so I could tell it. My engine parts were not even tightened back up when I picked the boat up. Last trip to that establishment! My data connection is "round" instead of triangular shaped like the E-tec cable. I am trying to find out what kind of connector this is? Any help, PLEASE!

Re: Used or operational EMC for 1999 70Hp Evinrude

Thanks Daselbee. I'm a newbie at this forum stuff and forgot to indicate who reply was for, sorry! I just typed you a reply and lost it somewhere. Anyway, I'm trying again. I thought you had several spare EMMs, therefore, the reply that I mentioned. When I purchased this pontoon, the guy checking the motor said that the HP fuel pump was defective and it was. He said repair that and the motor would run. So I replaced the HP elecric pump and got the motor cranked. However, it does crazy stuff every time you crank it. Won't idle without keeping throttle in fast position, and won't rev-up without cutting off. You can't keep it running, but it will start right back up after it cuts off. Neutral switch and all sensors check OK. I haven't been able to enjoy this boat since I bought it. Thinking about trying to find replacement motor. Thank you kindly for your Help!

I just posted a reply that went into thin air. Peesss me off. I spent alot of time typing it.

The computer software is useless.
The codes can be read off the tach.

I can test your EMM next week. That's it. Will not post anymore long posts that disappear.

Most likely a Suzuki connector. Use a Suzuki cable or just install the triangular OMC connector. If not able to communicate: Check COM port used and change if needed.
