Used Jon Boat Pricing

I have a 14ft. jon boat motor and trailer for sale has carpeted wood floor with foot control trolling motor and newer battery new tires on trailer. Motor is a 6hp mercury in very good shape runs great and starts right up

I saw an ad posted with the above text. He is wanting 650 for everything listed above, is this a good deal or not?

I can't see your pictures. Sounds like a steal though with a 6HP Merc.

Couldn't see the attachments.....would help to know where you are. Price varies with area/region/demand. Around here, what you described runs in the $1000-1500 range. I'd offer 'ya 500, even with the Merc

Water test this boat before you buy it!

If the seller says the motor just needs a tune-up walk away, if it just needed a tune-up he'd do it himself and sell it for more money.

If the hull of the boat has been repainted on the outside it means it probably leaks.


These are the things I should've done when I bought my first jon boat but didn't, and I got burned.

for $650 it's probably worht it; not much can go wrong with a jon or its trailer. The motor is the essence of the deal--is it an old "black anchor" or a newer one? salt or fresh? But if it runs, even if you have to repower in a month, you are OK. If not, think of it as a parts motor and plan to replace; you might get lucky with a cheap fix but you can't get out of a repair shop for less than $300
