I was putting my Alpha 1 back together this afternoon, was by myself and thought "this is going to be a pain". Then it occurred to me that it would be a lot easier if I turned the drive housing upside down. I flipped it over in the stand and lowered the gearcase on. Went together super easy. The only thing that I did was slip the side nuts in, used a couple of blobs of 2-4-C to ?glue? the shift shaft washer in place so it wouldn?t fall off, and made sure the oil passage gasket stayed in place. Made it really easy to guide the water tube, shift shaft and driveshaft in. Does anyone (or everyone) do it this way??. Any reason not to?? The ?book? seems to indicate you put it together right side up. This was WAY easier.:D
