upper shift linkage..yes, the powerhead has to come back off,however I'd make certain that it didn't pull out of the brass linkage coupler first before pulling the powerhead

Good call on the seafoam. That may have also caused it to stumble a bit. Another common problem is that the small nut the needle passes through can loosen due to the vibrations of the motor. Once you have the needle dialed in where you want, be sure to snug it down so it can't move around too easily. You'll also need to run the motor at WOT to burn out the last of the seafoam and sludge. You will have to remove the power head to access the upper shift rod. It's not too hard, but double check the problem before you go to the effort of taking it off.

It sounds like it's not that bad. Here's to hoping! Does anyone have a write up or schematic or anything that might help? I'll check you tube when I get off work as well.

I double checked the bottom brass connection and it's secure there. I'm 100% the top linkage let go because the handle came out of the side completely. I'm hoping all the parts are found when I get it taken apart!

Got it. Pulled the power head and reconnected all the shift rod parts. Running good again after getting all the Seafoam out of the system.

Shifts nice and smooth!!
