I posted earlier that my 1986 Four Winns Horizon began running rough while on the lake. I have to admit that I was running wide open to try to get the boat out of the water quickly. I believed at this point the boat needed a tune up. While trying to install a new set of points and performing a tune up, I discovered that number two cylinder spark plug was smashed and had no electrode or ground strap. A compression test resulted in 0 psi. I tore down the engine and removed the head. The piston had been melted and broken and the top of the compression ring was visible. The head was equally damaged. I was told by the machine shop that this was caused by a lean condition. The engine was a 1986block with out the balance shaft. I have a line on a 1993 4.3 with the balance shaft. Will my two barrel OMC intake work with this different block. I know that part of the balance shaft protrudes into the camshaft valley. I am in Georgia with the boat, and my father is in Illinois with the 1993 engine. Another question would be what caused the lean condition. Thank you for your help and sorry for the novel.
