Did you remove the gearcase and start the outboard? Alot of times a gearcase click like a missing tooth will travel up and sound like its comming from the powerhead.

yes johnnyrude i ran it with water hose to pickup line with lower off
puleed stator /timerbase and bearing cap because they all checked out
well looks like i have bad wrist pin bearing or rog bearing compression is perfect and it runs excellent /other than that small tick
hoping power head bolts are removeble with out breakage but the bolts are kinda ruff this power head has 6 new 030 pistons and low hours 60 or 70 but i had overheat due to blokage of pump /mudd looks like im going to have to tear down and inspect everything any advice on tear down would help

If you had the powerhead off for overhaul 60 hours ago, the bolts should come out easily. It's the ones saltwater ones that have been on for 20 years that are the problem.

hey ems the power head only has about 60 hrs use but it has been garaged for 5yrs prior it was my bils he has a few dollars so he had bought a new boat . i bought the boat from him .it has seen some brackish water use
south louisiana is famous for some pretty funky water. will try alittle heat when i pull .right know im trying to get a 75 v4 115 so i can use my boat its a mckee. i have a 17ft stratus thaths mint with trailer also mint. it had a 115 on it . but was rated at 150 hp hoping to repair 150 and use on it.
it will propaly take me quite awhile to finish the 150 .parts are high
and theres no telling whay kind of machine work i will have to get done hopefully i will be able to salvage some of the bores and pistons.
i will take block to the machine shop and go froma there
may end up putting parts on ebay if i cant save some of the cyls
thanks guys bennyb
