Started new thread so don't have to download past pictures.

Here she is.
We have straightened it best we can. Going to get a panelbeater to check it over and 'finish' it.
The chasis and inner-tray only needed a wire-brush on the end of the grinder. Came up well. Thinking of painting stone-guard inside the tray.Already painted rust inhibitor.
Any ideas?
As for the chasis. Thinking of POR15. Anyone any other ideas.
Pretty much decided on the final finish after yesterday. Ford Classic Trucks etc (3 different businesses) quoted me around $4,480 (approx US$3,300) for ALL the chrome I wanted.
Got to watching cars drive by, and all have rubber/chrome moldings of some sort, and they are not paying those bucks.
Spent hours on the net and finally found it is called Bodyside Molding, and the importers use Pin-Striping Franchises to sell and install it.
Got the quote yesterday for everything....Aud$250...and maybe an
extra $50 or so if it takes a bit longer.
Has 20 different moldings to choose from, can copy anything. All 3M products.(who cares if it lasts only 10yrs).
Think I will keep the final "look" a secret till it's finished. A guy in Missouri has one, and helping me to copy his (his is an original).
Brother, am I learning as I go along.
Wheels and Dream-Bars are the next thing.
Cheers
Phillip
Rino line the bed, its hard as nails , you keep your restored look and you can use it to haul stuff and it wont scratch up.

Bed lining is also a consideration for the frame as well as the underside of the bed/cab. Whether you have it sprayed professionally or do-it-yourself, it'll sure last longer than paint.

Just curious, what is the width of the frame (inside dimensions) where your fuel tank is? I would like to relocate the tank on mine from inside the cab to the frame. I'll need a new tank of course but if ours are similar, I'll know what to start looking for.

Do I detect a hint of redneck rim restoration on that rear wheel? :D

spots

It's starting to look good Phil.

I have Line X in my bed and it is very hard and durable. I also like it because it never gets hot. Even in August my dogs can hop right up in the bed and not burn the paws.

I never thought about using a spray-on liner for the frame. Definately worth considering.

Keep on truckin'!

My neighbor did this to a GM truck. He bought it with the intention of fixing it up for resale, therefore he never had it retitled in his name. After it was done, he advertised it for sale. Some guys came over to look at it. While he was showing it, the phone rang. He went inside to answer it. When he came back out, the truck was gone...along with the bill of sale and signed off title that was in the glove box.

Hi Philomena, are we still friends? On the liner I have one that I am using to grow weeds in. I'll bet I could send it to you for a small fortune in shipping charges. :savingbandwidth: :rolleye(s):

CN Spots:
My frame is "U" shaped, the 'U' is on its side, facing inward. Some may call it "C" shaped.
When I measured it across, the outside measurement was 950mm (.9 of 1 m, or 95cm)which I think is 33.75"
When I measured it inside to inside (this is the tip of the U or the C) it was 855mm which i think is 37.5"
Now if this helps, the U (or C) is 50mm (2") high on the sides and 145mm wide across the bottom.
The fuel tank is 630mm long (24.75") and 840mm wide (33"), and it is taller by 50mm (2") than the frame.
The fuel tank does not appear to rest on the frame. There are 2 plates bolted across the frame (one side to another). One is behind the tank, the other in front. There are another 2 plates bolted to these running in the same direction as the frame. The tank sits on these and has 2 straps holding it in place, with some sort of rubber to stop chaffing. Has worked for 31 yrs. Tank is perfect.
If you can't decipher this, I can get photos. Let me know.
I am flat out packing at the moment, so must fly.
Keep me posted.
Cheers
Phillip

So, how many times have you walked around that truck?

And I didn't realize that Fords were exported to Australia. I know you guys drive on the wrong sid e of the road and all, so I kinda figured that you didn't get the US products. Shows what I know.

Oh, and spray-on bedliner is definetaly the way to go. Rather low on the list is to do it to some parts of my truck, such as the reciever hitch. Those things always get rusty and crappy after a few years.

yes CN Spots, one rim did get a touch with the etch. Will have to ask John why?
Speedw.... I never gave that a thought, but must have gone around a few hundred time now.
Fords were built in Aussie up till approx late '80s. Now they all come from Brazil.
Cheers
Phillip
