Three pieces of shrapnel were removed and he will regain full use of his eye.<br /><br />All five bones in his right hand will be replaced/repaired with pins.<br /><br />The burns on his neck and right ear will require grafting.<br /><br />His other injuries are healing and will not require surgical intervention. He has been advised that he will not be required to leave the USAF Special Forces but will not be returned to combat.<br /><br />He is in good spirits and sends his thanks for all of the support and good wishes passed on to him from iboats members.<br /><br />He has received visits from his unit CO and from VP Cheney.<br /><br />Charles has been ordered, upon recovery, to report to The White House for a presentation by POTUS.
