I just bought a used Johnson 25 hp. The former owner told me he had winterized it but it sat all winter outside. I will want to start it and check it over before I apy for it. How do I go about it to un-winterize it so to speek? :rolleyes:

I recommend putting in new plugs after you start it and run it a while - otherwise agree with Born to FISH - fresh fuel and drain and replace L/U oil. <br /><br /> The reason - if he winterized it thoroughly, he "fogged" the cylinders with storage oil. When you start it for the first time, it will be very smoky for a while. After that burns out, you may find the plugs a little grimy - check them and see. You cuold then clean or replace. While you're at it, double check to get the right plugs for that engine - they might not be the correct ones in there. I've found that with both used engines I've purchased.
