Re: Unusual Bait

This should be on the saltwater section, but fit the thread. I was on a charter fishing boat a few years back and was eating some Kentucky Fried Chicken and throwing the bones over. Couple of guys were giving me a hard time and I was calling it chum. Less than two minutes later somebody hooked into something big. Very rare Black Sea Bass, about 15 lbs. He caught it on an anchovie, but when he pulled it up there were those chicken bones in his mouth . . . :D Won the jackpot too.

Used pancake batter for carp, and we used common garden snails de-shelled for catfish. <br />mmmm catfish!

Re: Unusual Bait

I took some Cub Scouts at camp out to fish once. Only problems were, I didn't have my gear, the camp fishing equipment was "lacking". They gave us two rod/reels and a tackle box. Ok, good so far (the kids signed these out and caught me as I was taking other kids out on the boat). We go out, find a stump/underwater tree with lots of fish hanging out. I open the tackle box, there is ONE lure, a few hooks and that is it. Nothing on the rod/reel setups.<br />One of the kids lost the lure pretty quick. I tied egg loop setups on some tiny hooks with 4 lb line, clipped some strings off of my black/gray flannel shirt and we caught fish all day long.<br />It looked like a mosquito sinking and the fish loved it!<br /><br />(Here is where I play the Mighty Mouse Theme...<br />"Here I am to save the day!" :D :D )<br /><br />AK Chappy

Re: Unusual Bait

We used to use pieces of balogna when I was a kid to catch bluegills & sunnies.<br />We would fill up a large plastic tub with dozens before letting them go. The neighborhood cats seemed to hang around a lot.
