Re: Turbojet

Ok thanks for the reply. Ill try that as soon as i get a chance.

in order to get an idea of the reed valve possibility I was wondering if these two are the same thing

and

Is this were the reed valves would go. Is so is this (the Red arrows)

The same thing

If i am correct and this is the reed valve location how hard would it be to replace them and would i have to order the gaskets from a dealer, or can i use the same ones although very unlikely? thanks

Re: Turbojet

The first picture has the by-oass covers circled. You can observe the condition of one side of a piston and the rings from there.

The second picture has the leaf plate assembly circled, which contains the "reeds". There are four of them.

To inspect the reeds at all, the carburetors, which are just in front of them, must be removed. To fully inspect them, the intake manifold must be removed. Be very careful when working around the carburetors and intake manifold that nothing gets inside. There is a lot of vibration and air movement there and things that are pulled in can seriously damage the engine. Any of the small screws must be replaced with the equivalent of Loctite Red.

It is best to pull the engine before attempting disassembly in the area of these components, due to the confined area of the engine compartment.

Re: Turbojet

Well id like to ask a question about this and im very sorry if this has become an annoying post but I was wondering how hard it would be to remove the engine. I am comfortable with mechanics but i have never worked on marine engines. Would you say it is be hard to remove the engine. Or would you recommend i take it to a professional. If it would not be too hard for me to do it were can i get an oem shop manual (other than Ebay) to aid me in this. Can i go to a dealer and get one or is that hard to get. Thanks

Re: Turbojet

Get the service manual for sure. The dealerships can get them if they are helpful, and they usually are. You can get a list here so that you can call around:

Just check the third circle and put in your zip. The will probably want to know which engine model you have 115JEEOB or 115TJEOA.

If you unscrew the cover on the engine compartment it isn't that hard to lift the engine with a hoist.

Re: Turbojet

Just give them the first model number #. The book covers both, but they won't know what to order without a model number.
