Update. The spark plugs look good, compression is good (160 165), both coils throw a 3/8" spark, and fuel flow looks good. All remain unchanged from a week ago. So I figured fuel flow. Borrowed a portable outboard tank. Had the wrong fitting, so I bought a hose barb from the hardware and ran my line right to it. Bought new gas, and used Penzzoil TCW3 that I opened last week. Put it in the lake for a test drive. It was a little hard to start, but not bad. Then I got results very similar to last week. Got about 150 yards from the ramp, running strong, then fell flat on it's face. Got is restarted, but it was difficult, but any engine load, and it would die right out. Got back to the ramp on the trolling motor. That took a few minutes. Backed the trailer into the water, and then was able to get the engine started to load it on the trailer.
If this was a car, I'd say the coil was losing power after it warmed up. But it isn't. I got this engine 9 years ago. It didn't run then, and I replaced the rectifier and stator with parts from CDI Electronics. I don't know if that will tell you anything or not, but there it is.
I haven't ohmed the coils yet. Any idea of what I should be looking for on that test?
Thanks guys.
