Tubing capabilities?

I bought a 13.3 Boston Whaler at the end of last season with a 40 HP evinrude. The guy I got it from used to tow water skiiers with it back in the 70/80's before he stopped using it. I have it all rebuilt and ready to go, and it clocks in around 40-42 MPH all timed and at full bore. I'd like to get a tube to pull some people around with at our lake, but I'm not sure of the capabilites of only 40hp. Preferably I'd like to get a 2 man tube, but I don't want to dog the thing and really lug the engine (not good for the engine or the enjoyment factor :D). Any suggestions of what I should look for? Should I adjust the engine pitch higher or lower to compensate for a towing load?

Thanks

I think you'll be fine with a two person tube pulled behind your boat and think your setup should by fine for tubing being that your hitting 40 mph as she sits.

Due to the size of the boat, be mindful at the hol eshot that you don't want to drag the tune; you might need to ask the riders to lean back a bit.

Also with the relatively small and flat bottom boat, the tube (and especially skiiers) will pull the boat around a lot, too.

I learned to waterski on a 13' whaler with an 18. didn't have the towables back then, though I'd pull guys on surfboards (freeboarding it was called).

Awesome, good to hear! The lake is kind of a weird S shape, so I won't be able to get too crazy with it anyway. Now off to find a suitable tube :D
