Hi all,

new to the forum. Have gotten alot of help here in the past, and this is my very first post. Here's my story.

Over the weekend, took my 1987 Four Winns Sundowner out. While at the ramp, did not start. Had power to radio and drive anc all, but not even a crank. Pulled it out, went to local marina shop. Guy there wiggled the wired near a red reset switch and it cranked up and started. Back to marina. Put in the water, starts up several times. Out we go, crusining nicely in NJ waters and wife decides to stop for a bite off of Sandy Hook inlet. As I shut engine off, get that feeling in the pit of my stomach that it was a no no. No crank or anything. ZIP! Power to radio, drive and everything, but no crank to engine at all. I am relatively new to boating, so couldnt even locate the damn starter to hit it to try and get it to start. Boat US charged $300 to tow us in. Of course, wife got the renewal notice and thought we already had it, so threw it out and let it expire. Fun times. Anyway, so I have Safeguard on both batteries and they are reading fully charged so thats not it. I'm guessing its the starter cause its and older boat. Any suggestions? Can anyone guide me to where I can physically locate the starter on a Mercuiser 175.

Thanks in advance guys and hope everyone had a better weekend than I did.
