How important is it to support the trolling motor shaft when the trolling motor is stowed while on the trailer? Has anybody had problems with the shaft bending while trailering?

I added a stay/shaft support to mine after hearing stories of trolling motors breaking off at the mount and/or damaging the fiberglass from choppy seas. It also helps on bumpy roads when trailered.

Often thought about adding a support but never have damaged one.....yet..!
Mine has the carbon fiber shaft with the supposed lifetime warranty against breakage.

IT is supposed to lay on the deck. A piece of CLOSED CELL rubber mat about 1" is ok to prevent marking the boat deck.
